Knowing your game - Learn the Rules

When some amateur or new casino players turn up at a casino, they are like a puppy in a new environment.  They jump around from place to place excitedly, trying out every single game.  They might place stakes of £10 here, £1 there and just play everything hoping to get a run of luck.  This might be good for a few players, but for the majority this will result in blowing a significant amount of money needlessly.

Casinos have hundreds of games on offer.  If you bet £1 on each of them, you would be betting a significant amount of money and still have absolutely no idea what you are doing on any game.  Some people do win through luck, but eventually luck does catch up with them. 

If you hear that your friends made £1000 by betting randomly, you can be sure that within a few more tries, they will have lost that £1000.  Betting randomly and winning can in fact be the worst thing for you – you might believe that is the way to play casino games and you might end up trying the same thing again and again and losing out.  It is far better that you learn the hard way that having no gameplan and not knowing game rules will lose you a significant amount of money.

You might say that casino games are based on luck – so why not just bet randomly?  Casino games are based on luck, but some have some semblance of skill.  Even games that are totally dependent on luck require some degree of money management and discipline.  Randomly playing is not the way to win and is a terrible habit.

Instead you should learn your game.  It might sound boring, but it is the only way that you will come close to getting the casino payout odds.  The casino payouts are listed in percentages.  This is the overall amount of money they payout compared to what goes into the casino.  So if the payout percentage is 98% then this means that they will be paying out $98 to every $100 that is paid into the casino.  Of course this means some people may only win 90% back, whereas some people will win 105% back. 

Your goal is to be one of those who wins 105% back.  The only way to do this is by knowing the game you play.  This goes for any game – blackjack, roulette, slot games are all included.  Know what the odds are, know how much you should bet compared to your deposit and know when you should quit.  If you follow these rules you will have the best chance of winning.

You might say that none of this sounds fun.  Perhaps studying rules and working out how much money you should bet sounds too much like work – and it is!  But it is always a lot more fun to win, rather than being on the losing side.  If you want to have fun and ignore the rules, then you should be set to lose money each and every time that you play at a casino.
